Q. Do you really provide FREE legal services?
A.
Our vision is to improve the lives of low-income Arkansans by championing equal access to justice for all regardless of economic or social circumstances. The Center for Arkansas Legal Services and Legal Aid of Arkansas are 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations that provide free legal services to low-income Arkansans in non-criminal cases, ranging from family to consumer and housing to individual rights cases. The Center serves 44 counties while LAA serves 31 counties.

Q. How do I qualify for free legal help?
A.
You must live in Arkansas and your household must meet certain guidelines for income and assets. Also, your problem must be one that HelpLine handles. That means it must be a civil legal problem (HelpLine will not give advice on criminal matters). If your legal problem can't be solved with a brief consultation you may be referred to a staff attorney or a volunteer attorney.

Q. What if I DO NOT QUALIFY for free legal help?
A.
We have developed several pro se (self-help) resources posted in the Free Law Library. See the next question for more information.

Q. I am trying to find some legal information or a legal form. What do I do?
A. The Free Law Library is your Virtual Law Office. In the Free Law Library you will find fact sheets, sample forms, interactive forms,  and streaming videos for many different types of legal issues.

Q. I am trying to use an interactive form on your website. Can you explain the process to me?
A. Visit the Self-Help – Arkansas Interactive Legal Forms page and select the resource you would like to use. Click on the selected link to be redirected to a national server of free automated forms. You will have the option of creating an account (to save you answers) or getting the forms anonymously. You will be asked several questions during an online interview. At the end of this easy to use interactive interview your personalized form packet will be generated in Microsoft Word. (Visit Interactive Forms) (Learn more...)
