Funding for Legal Services in Arkansas

There are six sources of financial support for legal aid in Arkansas. These funding sources include Legal Services Corporation (LSC) grants and contracts, the Public Legal Aid Fund, Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA), donations from private bar attorneys and corporations, and other donations and partnerships.

The charts and narratives in the 2010-2011 Annual Justice Partners Report show the revenue that are used to provide legal services to low-income Arkansans.

One such project made possible by a grant from the Legal Services Corporation was this website. The site was developed to establish a collaborative network of information sharing for the purposes of centralizing legal information and expertise on poverty law issues in Arkansas.

Legal Services Corporation Technology Initiative Grants are intended to improve access to justice and legal information through the use of technology. The Legal Services Corporation provides federal financial support to organizations that assist low-income individuals and families with legal problems. The website grant was one of 32 grants awarded to legal services programs in the nation in the year 2002.
