Sometimes, the person or company to whom you owe money will go to court. They will ask for a court order to make you pay your debt. For this to happen, they must first file a lawsuit. The court may order that money be taken out of your paycheck or bank account to satisfy a debt you owe. A creditor also can take and sell some of your property.
