Jason Duffy Named Marion County Volunteer Attorney of the Year

FAYETTEVILLE, May 1, 2010 - In observance of Law Day, May 1, 2010, Legal Aid of Arkansas announces that Jason Duffy of Yellville has been chosen Volunteer Attorney of the Year for Marion County. The award, given each by Legal Aid, a nonprofit corporation providing free legal services to low-income individuals, recognizes outstanding volunteerism and service to the residents of the county.

Lane, Mayor of Yellville, says, “I am pleased that Mr. Jason Duffy has been selected for this award.  He has been a life-long friend and I feel the citizens of Yellville and Marion County are blessed to have him now serving his home community.  I am honored to speak about the award Mr. Duffy has been given.  The award couldn’t have gone to a better person because it speaks of who Jason is as a person and the family background he has.  Being friends with Mr. Duffy’s family all of my life has given me the insight into what a wonderful family and what wonderful, giving people they are and Jason is no exception.  It is people like Jason Duffy who make small town America work, people who are willing to give of their talents and time to help a community as a whole with its struggles.  I am glad that Jason has chosen to move his practice back home to Yellville and happy for him to have been chosen for this award.”

He has been practicing law in Yellville since 2004.  Previously he practiced with Cochran & Croxton, P.A. in Rogers from 2003-2004 and was corporate Counsel for Wal-Mart Stores, 2000-2003.  He is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association where he serves in the House of Delegates. 

In his community, Duff is a member of the Board of Directors of the Yellville Chamber of Commerce and serves as a Tee-Ball Coach.  In 2006 he was chosen as Northwest Arkansas Big Brother of the Year.

Duffy received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville in 2000 where he was on the Dean’s List.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Hendrix College in 1995.
