The Republic of the Marshall Islands' Consulate Hosts Legal Aid of Arkansas
The Consulate of the Republic of the Marshall Islands opened its doors
to members of the Marshallese community and Legal
Aid of Arkansas on September 14th. Marshall Islands citizens came
to meet representatives of Legal Aid and receive help on legal issues.
Legal Aid can provide extended legal services or give legal advice on
most civil legal issues. More than fifty Marshallese citizens have benefited from
Legal Aid's help so far this year, on issues such as income taxes, garnishments, adoptions, landlord/tenant problems, and more. Legal Aid has saved
Marshallese citizens in Arkansas thousands of dollars on garnishment
cases. There is an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 citizens of the Marshall Islands living in Springdale.
The Consulate, located at 109 Spring Street, Suite 9 in Springdale, will host Legal Aid of Arkansas again on Tuesday, September 28, from 10am to 1pm. Please call Rillan Kaisha at 1-800-967-9224 ext. 5304 for more information.
To apply for Legal Aid services, call the HelpLine at 1-800-967-9224.
