Arkansas is celebrating National Pro Bono Week from Oct. 17 through Oct. 29 this year. We're partnering with members of the justice community to host several outreach events throughout the month as well as receptions and awards ceremonies to highlight the work of our law student and attorney volunteers.

October 11, 2016: Lawyer in the Library (Family Law Focus)

5:00 – 8:45 p.m. at the Law Library at the William H. Bowen School of Law, 1201 McMath Avenue, Little Rock, AR Interested in low-bono? Through the Lawyer in the Library program, pro bono attorneys and law students will help low-income community members with various legal issues at the Law Library at the William H. Bowen School of Law. Volunteer attorneys have the opportunity to work on a sliding fee scale if the attorney and patron agree to enter into an attorney/client relationship after the event.

 

October 18, 2016: Veterans Legal Assistance Program

9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the CAVHS Day Treatment Center, 1000 South Main Street, Little Rock, AR Once a month, pro bono attorneys provide legal advice and other brief services to veterans at the CAVHS Day Treatment Center in downtown Little Rock.

 

October 25, 2016: Lawyer in the Library

5:00 – 8:45 p.m. at the Law Library at the William H. Bowen School of Law, 1201 McMath Avenue, Little Rock, AR Interested in low-bono? Through the Lawyer in the Library program, pro bono attorneys and law students will help low-income community members with various legal issues at the Law Library at the William H. October 28, 2016: Record Sealing Clinic at Our House

12 - 5 p.m. at the Our House, 302 E. Roosevelt Rd., Little Rock, AR Come celebrate Pro Bono Week by helping homeless and near-homeless persons seal criminal records at Our House. By helping clients seal criminal records, you can give them with a sense of closure while increasing the employment and housing opportunities available to them. The event will begin with a free training on how to seal criminal records under Arkansas law. Pro bono attorneys will then have brief appointments to advise clients and draft documents.

Just Jeans Friday

Law firms, corporate legal departments, government legal offices, judicial offices, and law schools are encouraged to participate in the Just Jeans event by observing a casual Friday on Oct. 24, with participants making a minimum suggested contribution of $5.
