Arkansas is celebrating National Pro Bono Week from Oct. 19 through Oct. 25 this year. We're partnering with members of the justice community to host several outreach events throughout the month as well as receptions and awards ceremonies to highlight the work of our law student and attorney volunteers.

Thurs., Oct. 2, 5:30 p.m. - Rogers
Economic Impact of Civil Legal Aid Presentation and Reception
A presentation of the Economic Impact of Civil Legal Aid will be held and co-sponsored by the Arkansas Access to Justice Commission, Legal Aid of Arkansas, Mitchell Williams, Tyson Foods, and Walmart Stores, Inc. The presentation and accompanying reception will be held at Mitchell Williams Law Firm located at 5414 Pinnacle Point Dr., Suite 500 in Rogers.
Fri., Oct. 3, 8:30 a.m. - Fayetteville
The VA pro bono event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Jefferson Center in Fayetteville located at 612 S. College Ave. The service event partners include the Arkansas Access to Justice Commission, Arkansas Pro Bono Partnership, Legal Aid of Arkansas, Center for Arkansas Legal Services, Arkansas Volunteer Lawyers for the Elderly, Equal Access to Justice Panel, and the Friday Firm.
Fri., Oct. 3, 12 p.m. - Springdale
Arkansas Access to Justice Commission Meeting
A quarterly meeting of the Arkansas Access to Justice commission meeting will follow the service event in Fayetteville. The meeting will begin with lunch at 12 p.m. commissioner Rodney Nagel is hosting the meeting at Tyson's corporate headquarters located at 2200 Don Tyson Parkway in Springdale. Local judges, bar leaders, Legal Aid of Arkansas board members, and other local stakeholders and partners are invited to attend.
Sat., Oct. 4, 11 a.m. - Pine Bluff
Attorneys with the W. Harold Flowers Law Society are partnering with Center for Arkansas Legal Services, Legal Aid of Arkansas, Arkansas Legal Services Partnership, and Arkansas Access to Justice Commission to host an expungement clinic to provide free legal help to low-income Arkansans seeking to seal their criminal records. The event will take place in the Sixth Division Courtroom at the Jack Jones Juvenile Justice Center located at 301 E. 2nd Ave. in Pine Bluff. View the press release for the event.
Tues., Oct. 14, 9:30 a.m. - Little Rock
Veterans Legal Assistance Program
The Center for Arkansas Legal Services provides free legal help at the CAVHS Veterans Day Treatment Center on the second Tuesday of every month. Veterans can get free legal help from an attorney and can sign up online.
Wed., Oct. 22, 5:30 p.m. - Little Rock
Cancer patients at UAMS will have the opportunity to speak with attorneys for free. Volunteer attorneys and law students with the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law will work together to prepare simple wills, advance directives, and powers of attorney for health care and financial matters. The event will take place at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
Thurs., Oct. 23, 9 a.m. - Fayetteville
Legal Aid of Arkansas will once again offer free legal help at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. This annual event is a one-stop resource for area homeless that will provide haircuts, eye exams, groceries, dental exams, veteran services, free lunch, and free legal advice.
Fri., Oct. 24, 1 p.m. - North Little Rock
The W. Harold Flowers Law Society and legal aid are offering free legal help at Shorter College's Student Center. Attorneys will be available from 1-5 p.m. to help low-income Arkansans and Shorter College students in preparing the legal forms to seal their criminal records.
Fri., Oct. 24 - statewide
Just Jeans Friday
Law firms, corporate legal departments, government legal offices, judicial offices, and law schools are encouraged to participate in the Just Jeans event by observing a casual Friday on Oct. 24, with participants making a minimum suggested contribution of $5.
Tues., Oct. 28, 1 p.m. - Little Rock
Attorneys will be available at the Arkansas Children's Hospital to offer free legal advice and help patient families by preparing simple wills, advance directives, and powers of attorney for health care and financial matters. Patient families will be able to walk away with these key legal documents. The event will take place on the East Campus at Arkansas Children's Hospital.
